Faux Slate
Manufactured by some of the largest roofing material manufacturers in the country these imitation slate roofing products have several advantages over their natural counter parts. The most popular being their weight and flexibility. They weigh in at less than half the weight of conventional slate, are hail and impact resistant, and less susceptible to cracking and breaking.
Imitation slates are still more expensive than the standard composition or asphalt shingle products, but are quickly gaining in popularity. Extensively used in commercial and institutional applications, these products are more and more frequently finding their way into the residential sector as well.
